Welcome to Sparrow’s class page! 

We hope you had a lovely half term and are ready for another exciting 6 weeks. In the Year 1 team this half term we have Mrs Potter, Mrs Ducker, Mrs Burrows and Mrs Austin. Mrs Potter teaches the children Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and Mrs Ducker teaches the children Thursdays and Fridays.

Here is an overview of what our learning will look like this half term: 

We will continue to teach phonics daily in Year 1, recapping all sounds and continuing with Phase 5 sounds. 

Please continue to read with your child daily for 5-10 minutes as this is essential in supporting their fluency, comprehension and love of reading. Whilst reading with your child try to discuss the books too: what has happened so far, what they think may happen next, who are their favourite characters…

Could you also ensure that children bring their water bottle, containing still water, to school each day. P.E kits are left in school and will come home at the end of this half term to be washed. Please ensure your child brings in wellies, which again can be left in school. 

We have lots of exciting experiences planned in Sparrows this half term. Our Class Dojo page is our main platform of communication, so please do keep up to date for all our key dates, notices and key learning moments. 

We also love to see and share the wonderful learning you do at home with your child, so please send any photographs or videos across and we will share and celebrate these with the children in class. Remember homework is set on a Friday and due in the following Wednesday. Please share photos on Dojo.
